There is a handwritten number in white ink that has been masked, probably in the hand of Antoin Sevruguin, that reads, "1". This same number in the same location appears on the glass negative of this image in the the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives and of the other gelatin silver print of this image in the Nelson collection.
