This photograph forms part of a group of ten photographs by Antoin Sevruguin of a polo game in Tehran on occasion of the Queen of England's birthday. Some of the prints in question include a studio stamp on verso, as is the case with this particular print.

 

This is the only print in the Nelson collection by Antoin Sevruguin that shows movement of the individuals that form the subject of the photograph.

Provenance

This photograph forms part of a group of photographs of a polo game in Iran that are believed to have originally belonged to David Brown (1872-1919), who worked for the Imperial Bank of Persia in Tehran from 1892.
