The postcard is titled " Porte des diamants du Palais Imperial a Teheran."
A gelatin silver print of this image is also in the Nelson collection. The print has the number "1494" in white ink on recto in the same location as the glass negative of this image (see below). The number "33975" also appears on recto twice (one number is mirrored). The print has an annotation attached stating "Le Palais du Shah a Teheran" and is dated 22 November 1911. The print is studio stamped on verso by M Branger, Paris and copyrighted. However, the print appears to be a photograph of the original photograph by Antoin Sevruguin. Maurice-Louis Branger (1874-1950) was a French photographer who created the Paris-based reportage agency "Photo-Presse" in 1905.
A glass negative of this image is located in the Myron Bement Smith Collection of Antoin Sevruguin Photographs in the Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Archives. Smithsonian Institution, Washington D.C. and was a gift of Katherine Dennis Smith, 1973-1985. The glass negative has the reference of FSA A.4 2.12.GN.28.02. The number "122" and "1494" appear on recto in white ink probably in the hand of Antoin Sevruguin.
